O.K., there was this movie, I think maybe made in the late seventies or early 80's, where this woman who was a witch moves in with this family, I think she pretended to be a long lost cousin, and everyone loves her except for the daughter, who I thought was played by Kristy McNichol, but I can't find anything on IMD. Anyway, the witch, who I thought was played by Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary, Little House on the Prarie, but agin nothing from IMD) knows the girl is on to her, causes her horse to get a broken leg with some voodoo doll made out of wax, then there is this big fight in a darkroom, then the witch is killed in a car accident, but then moves onto another family. This might have been a t.v. movie, I'm not sure. I need to know the name of this film, it is driving me crazy! Please, search your memories for me!

I must admit, I am slightly more interested in the old, twisted, post stroke Davis than the younger one. Salvador Dali's work is a lot like my dreams. Just visually amazing work, the kind of stuff I wish I could express in my own work. One of the highlights of my life was seeing several Dali pieces at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Surrealism exhibit several years ago. The detail you can see in his work when you are up close is amazing!

I saw this online and decided to post it here. I guess I feel it is well written and I hope it makes the rounds throughout cyberspace, so I'll help it along. I can also say that in terms of myself, I am one of the lucky ones who has a loving family and loving friends. For that I am thankful.

I am the girl kicked out of her home because I confided in my mother that I am a lesbian.
I am the prostitute working the streets because nobody will hire a transsexual woman.
I am the sister who holds her gay brother tight through the painful, tear-filled nights.
We are the parents who buried our daughter long before her time.
I am the man who died alone in the hospital because they would not let my partner of twenty-seven years into the room.
I am the foster child who wakes up with nightmares of being taken away from the two fathers who are the only loving family I have ever had. I wish they could adopt me.
I am one of the lucky ones, I guess. I survived the attack that left me in a coma for three weeks, and in another year I will probably be able to walk again.

I am going to be teaching a unit on cd/dvd cover designs. Does anyone have any examples of these that they think are really good examples of design or really bad examples of design? I am trying to set up a slideshow to show my students so we can discuss the design aspects. Any scans or any ideas or sites you know of I could go to will be greatly appreciated!

My New Love

This is my new dog, Winnie! I got her about a month ago at the Potsdam Humane Society! She's a little nervous, I don't think she was very well treated before I got her. She's two years old, and weighs about 11 lbs. So far we are getting along great, she and Thurston (my cat) get along well and she loves to go to my parents and play with their Golden Lab Jessie. She did not like having her picture taken, and after about 20 minutes of me trying to get just the right one she ran off!

Lately I am feeling blah about my appearance, that I need a style re-charge or something. Of course, I don't have a lot of money. So, I am going to ask everyone's opinion about something specific. My hair is going gray. It has been for a while, but lately it seems to be taking off. It is mostly on the sides, but I am starting to see them on top as well. And if I don't shave for a day or two, I think almost 50% of my facial hair has turned white. My question is- should I dye my hair or leave it? It's naturally dark brown. About 5 or 6 months ago I had it colored a slightly darker shade of brown with some red highlights. It is mostly grown out. I have my hair professionally dyed after some accidents. The trouble is, I wash my hair almost everyday to avoid styling product build-up, and it wreaks havoc on my color, no matter what color-safe shampoo I use. So I'm just not sure what to do? Leave it and just deal or try something new? Any suggestions at all would be appreciated! I know I should post a picture, and maybe I will try to later tonight when I am home and my digital camera is handy!

Falling Down...

Last night around 8:00 pm when I went to take Winnie outside I slipped in my driveway and fell. It had snowed a little bit and I couldn't see the icy patches. My legs went out from under me and I fell straight backwards and landed square on my back! At first I thought I had hit my head cause I couldn't get up, then I realized that the wind had been knocked out of me. After about 30 seconds of lying there with Winnie staring at me I was able to regain my footing. I looked to see if my next door neighbors were laughing at me, but they were engrossed in a game of darts. Today I am in agony. My whole upper body is broken. Fucking winter!

Also today I am back to the doctor as my kidneys are trying to murder me again. a year ago I had a surgical procedure done for kidney stones that showed up out of nowhere, and I am terrified I will have to go through it all again! Shockwave Lithotripsy is no fun at all! Think pleasant thoughts about my kidneys!

Some people hate her, some people are indifferent, but no matter how crazy she is, I will always have a soft spot for Sinead O'Connor and the influence she has had on me over the years, especially in early adolescence. Therefore I was excited to read this news today:

Drowning in words and snow....

I am going to try to write on here more often so as to communicate with all the cool people I have met here and hopefully meet others. I may also start up my blog again, but I'm not sure about that. Right now it has gone from rain to snow in the past 3 hours, and I'm wondering if maybe our after school activities will be cancelled or even if we might go home early! I took my new dog Winnie out this morning, and it was raining, and she took forever to go to the bathroom, which was a bummer as It was dark out and I was getting wet. I'm also hoping my class is cancelled tonight, because I haven't read my 118 page book "Educational Technology: The Development of a Concept" or written the two reaction papers. Is it really my fault that after two pages no matter where I am my eyes droop and my head nods and I'm out? I keep wondering when there is going to be a let up!

ps: I will not be locking my general entries at first, in the attmept that others may read it and addd me to their lists! Greedy, greedy piggy am I!

Edit: I have just been informed that we are being let out at 10:30! Someone somewhere is listening to me!

Just learned on The Creatures board that John Peel has died from a heart attack while vacationing in Peru. How very sad. It seems the world of music that I love has been changing immensely lately.
